Dust off your boots and join us for our very first Hinterland Hoedown - a brand-new live music
series at the Regent Cinema, Murwillumbah.
Carefully curated to showcase the very best in country, Americana, folk, bluegrass and honky
tonk, the Hinterland Hoedown brings together exceptional live bands, authentic storytelling and
plenty of opportunities to hit the dancefloor until midnight.
Featuring two outstanding live acts followed by a country music vinyl DJ spinning until midnight,
this is more than a concert - it's a celebration of great music, community and good times.
Whether you're a lifelong country fan, a lover of folk and roots music, or simply looking for a
fantastic night out in the hinterland, everyone is welcome. All ages (under 18 must be
accompanied by an adult). Come and discover incredible original artists before dancing the
night away with friends.
We're thrilled to launch what we hope will become a regular event, celebrating the vibrant
country and roots music scene right here in the Northern Rivers.

Abbie Cardwell
Following standout performances at Mullum Roots Festival and the Regent Cinema's Women of
Country showcase, acclaimed singer-songwriter Abbie Cardwell brings her unique
Electro-Twang live show to the Regent Cinema theatre for the very first time.
Blending heartfelt songwriting with banjo, acoustic guitar, harmonica, live sampling and
electronic beats, Abbie creates a captivating performance where old-world twang meets a
modern pulse. Produced by Matthew Engelbrecht, performing live as a three-piece with Rod
Coe and Warren Earl, this is a rare opportunity to experience music from her latest album
performed live.
A Triple J Unearthed winner and favourite of festivals including WOMAD, Woodford Folk
Festival and Splendour in the Grass, Abbie's music effortlessly moves between intimate
storytelling, toe tapping hooks and exciting genre blending.
The Honky Tonk Swingers
Keeping the spirit of traditional country and Western Swing alive, The Honky Tonk Swingers are
a six-piece band delivering timeless twang with pedal steel, fiddle, double bass and irresistible
rhythms. Proudly flying the flag for authentic honky-tonk across the Northern Rivers and South
East Queensland, they pay tribute to country music legends including George Jones, Buck
Owens, Merle Haggard and the King of Western Swing, Bob Wills, while weaving in original
tunes of their own.
Expect classic dancehall energy, toe-tapping tunes and a boot-scootin' good time that'll have
you smiling and dancing from the very first song.
DJ Holy Cowboy
When the bands finish, the night is far from over. DJ Holy Cowboy takes over with an all-vinyl
country set on the balcony, spinning classic country, outlaw, honky tonk and Americana
favourites until midnight. So stick around, grab your mates and keep the Hoedown rolling on the
dancefloor!
